Here are some pictures of work being done on a new LDS Chapel in Kananga.
The two women jumped in to pretend to work with the men… in fact, the women were there to do what they always do in the Congo: carry water! Even on a construction site, where the water is just a few feet away, they bring in women to carry water to the men (water for the concrete for example).
Here the men are bending rebar to be installed in the concrete footings that are being poured.
A view of the footings for the new chapel area.
The pillars are for a covered work area.
This project is great entertainment for the local people, especially the children. The fences were lined with people watching the men work!
